Mark Siminoff is an owner and co-founder of EarthBaby. After searching for an environmentally friendly diapering solution for his two children, he realized very quickly that the only options out there were cloth and disposables. After trying both, Mark and his wife Ellen decided there had to be a better solution and EarthBaby was born. Mark was determined to complete the cycle, from cradle to compost. For Mark and his family EarthBaby was the solution and completed the cycle.
Prior to EarthBaby, Mark was a senior mechanical engineer at IDEO. Before that he spent three years managing the engineering, design, and development of electronic accessories and components for Specialized Bicycles. He also spent seven years doing special effects for Hollywood movies. Mark received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He lives with his wife, son, and daughter in Mountain View, CA.
Scott Pastrone is EarthBaby's first employee and founding member of the management team. He serves as Director of Operations, responsible for creation, implementation, and oversight of daily processes. A life-long affinity and fascination with the natural systems of our world inspired Scott towards environmental stewardship and the discovery of ways to better preserve and interact with them. The combination of these interests, along with Scott’s college foci in environmental science and geology, is integral to the core goals driving EarthBaby today.
Prior to EarthBaby, Scott worked as a project and solar-program manager in the construction industry, and as a mechanical and systems integration engineer in the medical device industry. Scott lives with his wife and three children in Santa Cruz - home of his alma mater, the University of California - where he ardently enjoys the local outdoors - surfing, mountain biking, and hiking.
Kirsten Berry is EarthBaby's Senior Customer Service Representative. Whether via phone, email, or web chat, if you have a question, she'll be the one to answer you. Kirsten's road to EarthBaby was a circuitous one. After eight years as a professional driver, she was fortunate enough to qualify for a federal grant to assist displaced transportation workers post-9/11, receiving office skills certification from Opportunities Industrialization Center West. Kirsten was hired to establish EarthBaby's customer service department in the fall of 2009.
A life-long resident of the Bay Area, Kirsten was part of the San Francisco Chronicle’s “Faces of Burning Man” photo-essay in 2005. A true passion in her life, 2013 marks her eleventh year volunteering for the event, where she is a member of the advisory council for the Department of Mutant Vehicles (DMV). She has also volunteered locally for a number of science fiction conventions over the past three decades. Kirsten lives in Santa Clara with Douglas, her husband of 22 years, who is a dispatcher and freelance game designer with several titles to his credit.
